Baby Steps to Get Active and Lose Weight This Fall

Have you been wanting to lose a few pounds (or a lot) and get in shape? Now might be just the right time to join our physician monitored weight loss program! Call 266-9985 to get your first appointment!

But even if you are not ready to take the leap just yet, Fall can be the perfect time to make small changes to your diet and begin getting active. With so many fruits and veggies available, it’s easy to prepare delicious meals. Not to mention the beautiful weather that makes you want to spend time outdoors!

So, are you ready to get moving and shed pounds? Here are a few simple ways to jump start your weight loss plan this fall:

Make Exercise a Habit
Exercise should be a priority. Commit yourself to working out at least four times a week. Make exercise part of your daily routine. Stop thinking about it as a chore! Working out can be fun and relaxing. If you’re too busy to hit the gym, do bodyweight exercises, climb the stairs, or go jogging.

Start a Journal
Write down what you eat, how often you work out, and what exercises you do. Monitor your weight and compare results every month. Paying attention to what works for your body can help you determine for yourself what steps you should be taking to lose one pound at a time. Keep track of your daily calorie intake and write everything in your diary.

Eat Seasonal Food
Fruits and veggies taste best when eaten in season. Seasonal products sourced locally are good for your health and the environment. Many delicious foods are at their peaks in fall, featuring an abundance of colors and flavors. Now is the best time to eat apples, pumpkin, grapes, pomegranates, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, and cranberries.  Look for them all at the Market at the Horse Farm every Saturday.

Spice Up Your Workout Routine
If you’re already working out, try something new. Join a running or hiking club, learn how to swim, sign up for a ballet-inspired pilates class at Xtend Barre right around the corner in River Ranch and plan active vacations that will keep you moving. Be physically active as much as you can, and create opportunities for working out, such as biking, walking, jogging, or playing tennis. These small changes will help you shed extra pounds and get in shape for the holidays.  You’ll be feeling great, and looking great and will have a jump start on next year’s weight loss resolution!
